Barist - Berlin

The service in Berlin overall is very different to the service we are used to in the U.K. You sit down yourself and wait for a waiter to come over with menus. Unfortunately when we visited Barist, the waiter took an extremely long time to come over with the menu. Then instead of taking a drinks order, he walked off - assuming we would need time to look. This wasn't too bad though given the restaurant is set in a beautiful square with a lovely atmosphere. It just makes the place seem more relaxed. We ordered food without problems. I asked for part of my order to be changed due to person preference. The waiter didn't quite understand my request so the order wasn't correct (but that was partly my fault too). What was nice though was that he made the effort to come back over to check that everything was perfect. The food was good, the drinks were good. I would say it was a little overpriced but not by much. It's worth a visit for a nice meal.

Wir hatten uns beide jeweils eine Hauptspeise und einen Salat bestellt. Doch leider bekam meine Begleitung ihre Hauptspeise noch vor dem Salat und noch bevor ich etwas bekommen hatte. So hatte meine Begleitung längst aufgießen, als wir beide unseren Salat bekamen. Als ich dann meine Hauptspeise bekam hatte mein Begleiter seit rund einer halben Stunde aufgegessen. Als wir den Kellner darauf aufmerksam machten, sagte er genervt "Ja ja, das klären wir gleich" und verschwand. Geklärt wurde der Vorfall natürlich nicht. Auch die Qualität der Speisen ließ zu wünschen übrig: Das "Maishähnchen" bestaunt aus 5 Scheibchen Fleisch, die Soße schmeckte nach nicht sehr viel. Außerdem waren meine Salatblätter sehr trocken und teilweise schön braun. Ein Getränk, das ich bestellt hatte, als ich meine Hauptspeise bekam, brachte der Kellner dann mit der Rechnung (rund eine Dreiviertelstunde später). Als ich es davor abbestellen wollte, wiegelte er ab und meinte es käme "in einer Minute"

The location is very chatming, on a square with lot's of other restaurants . Good athmosphere.Sat outside.Food was really good but staff seemed to be stressed out as there were far few of them compared to number of customers.Service was slow but we wrre in no rush

Ventet en stund på menyen, men øl og mat kom rimelig raskt på bordet og smakte ok. Da jeg skulle betale regningen på 22 euro, leverte jeg en 50-seddel, Kelneren kakket med pekefingeren på setningen "Service not included". Jeg nikket, men forholdt meg taus. Dermed fikk jeg 23 euro tilbake, og kelnernes forsvant. Ønsket ikke å lage noe oppstyr på grunn av 5 euro, og forlot stedet.

All along this busy strip you'll find plenty of open air drinking and eating places and this is one of them. Nothing to shout about as it's a tourist hang out so you know what to expect.Good staff,cold beer and good pizza (there was much more on the menu) and a brilliant location. We went to different places along the strip every evening of our stay and weren't disappointed so if you're in the area give it a go.
