Personally, one of our favorite local ice cream shops. They also seem to have better hours than most other local ice cream places. They serve all your standard Ashby's flavors.
Great local place. Line looked long, but moved quickly. Lot of ice cream for the price
Well kept Berkley staple!! The quality of this ice cream is unreal compared to store bought and even some other local shops. Around 40+ flavors so there’s something for everybody- on top of that the staff is always quick and extremely friendly!
Generally speaking, I've been a loyal customer and had been satisfied with their service and their selection of ice cream. I always 9 out of 10 get the Brownie Supreme Sundae from their Sundae Specialties line. However, being back there yesterday around 5-5:30ish, I just found out that the prices had gone up when I got the same selection for myself and my mother. My general issue(s) start with the pricing model not being clearly defined. In the past, I always get the Medium size version of the Brownie Supreme (which was two scoops for $6) out of the Small, Medium, and Large prices which are usually $4 to $8 on the Menu signs outside their shop. If they can change or make it more clear next time on their OUTSIDE sign on Sundae specialties being one price/size of $8 then there won't be any confusion for any returning customers.Though the new size of the Sundaes do somewhat justify the price, I do wish there was a size selection like before, but I can see with the toppings (especially the brownies which are a popular topping) why they've raised and consolidated everything for that price. My next issue is the lack of customizing options for how you want your ice cream done. I've always had the fudge topping and brownies between the scoops, which is what the ice cream shop had done in the past. I would always tip them for doing that service, since that's what I'm PAYING them for. They don't seem to do that anymore which doesn't really seem customer-friendly, yet they STILL ASK FOR TIPS BEFORE PAYING for your ice cream, which brings me to my final point...Speaking of Tips... while I can, however reluctantly, accept why you've raised the prices of your Sundae Specialty line there shouldn't be a reason to continue asking for them. Talking with the clerk about the prices was all well and good, but having my requests for preparing my sundaes that I've paid $16 for rejected and STILL ASKING FOR A TIP, is a pretty unprofessional way to do business with your returning customers. Tips should be given when the service is done well, the way YOU want it to be done.I want to continue supporting your business, but you must change your pricing model at least for your outside sign (I've seen afterwards that you have a website with updated prices) and REDUCE (if not altogether get rid of) REQUESTS FOR TIPS. Many of your customers are not from Berkley, and I live a little farther away so in terms of money, just buying your ice cream when I could've gone to your competitors who are closer (and cheaper to buy from) to me should be enough. I gave a dollar to be a good sport, but don't expect every customer to give you a tip, especially your returning ones who've shown goodwill by continuing to pay for your treats.
