Marugame Udon - Berkeley

As a Japanese customer, I must say that both the service and atmosphere at this restaurant were superb! The staff was extremely kind and helpful, making it easy for me to communicate despite my limited English skills. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful and the food was delicious. However, I found the soup to be a bit sweeter than what I am used to at Marugame in Japan. Perhaps it was just my own misunderstanding, but overall, it was a wonderful dining experience.

I had a wonderful experience at this Udon restaurant. The interior is designed for counter service, making it very quick. The prices are reasonable for the location. The décor is lovely and they even have a great outdoor patio.

The tonkotsu udon broth was delicious but slightly salty. It is difficult to find parking at this restaurant.

My second time at Marugame Udon, just at a different location. Food was quick and portions are very generous with the dishes and complimentary add ons as well. Workers were very friendly and the place had an overall welcoming atmosphere. The food itself was good too, i got the Tan Tan a spicy vegan udon to me it was not that spicy but it was still a good dish. I also got the Chicken Katsu Teriyaki and that was great as well. Had an overall good experience, would come again.

Tonkotsu udon with shrimp and squid tempura were very good, full of flavor. Workers behind the counter were very friendly and helpful.
