An appointment led us to Bensberg. In the past, the city was self-employed (until 1975; now it is communed by Bergisch Gladbach. But the parts – as so often in Germany – are not really grown together. Therefore, we are rather rare in this area. The castle road could be a jewel: The shops are diverse and interesting, but the design of the street is impossible in my eyes and greatly diminishes the attractiveness. Since it was quite hot, we wanted to eat an ice cream on the way back in the shopping street. There were two points of sale on the street: Eiscafé Forum and Eiscafé fruit happiness. The first house had less good reviews on the Internet, but more seats and shadows. So we returned there once. Ambience Outside there were umbrellas and seats; but inside it seemed more airy. The facility seemed a little in the years, but otherwise like a traditional ice cream café. On the front of the street also the sale for running customers and at the entrance the queue. We're sitting at a free table almost next to the counter. Cleanliness Everything worked neatly well maintained. The toilets were to be reached at the end of the room flat. Service Several people worked in the restaurant. Behind the counter two women and three men made the service. They were polite but not particularly friendly: rather business and factual. The map(s) on the table was ready. The offer was as comprehensive as you can expect in an Italian ice cream parlour. The tasting food We chose an ice cup and several types of ice cream. Toblerone cups – 7,50 € My wife likes the whole milk chocolate with nougat notes and nuts. Here the small pieces of toblerone were poured over with dark chocolate sauce and accompanied by predominantly chocolate ice balls. She didn't like the composition – and I couldn't taste it because of my nut incompatibility. The dark sauce and the chocolate ice cream did not match the mild toblerone. The sauce and the brown chocolate were also unharmonic. I had – because I can taste the ice better – just ordered a middle portion with four balls – €5.80. It would also have been five, but the salt-caramel ice cream from the map was made of: Malaga, chocolate, vanilla and lemon basilikum then. I just tasted the lemon basilball. It was pleasantly sour and had fresh herbal notes. But, unfortunately, the milk-ice places told me little too. The chocolate probably had low cocoa content and was also little creamy (milkis can certainly also tolerate some cream. The vanilla ice cream was also quite solid and without much taste. Malaga reminded me of the original only by some small raisins. Conclusion The prices appeared to us somewhat athletic in relation to quality. The taste did not convince us excessively. 2- rather not again (1 – certainly not again, 2 – hardly again, 3 – if it results again, 4 – happy again, 5 – absolutely again – after “Kuechenreise” In terms of ice cream varieties and prices per sphere, Bergisch Gladbach or Bensberg for me the following picture: ice cream coffee Capuccino Downtown (4 – happy again spaghetti ice cream: cream and ice cream were successful, the strawberry sauce was somewhat weaker. The service was friendly and attentive. Other types of milk and fruit ice were also tasty. Almost directly followed by Eiscafe Venezia Downtown (4 – happy again The ice cream was generally well made. The service drew attention to her work. The portion was very generous. The selection of ice creams was quite large. Eiscafé fruit happiness Bensberg (4 – gladly again the ice creams have promised us quite well. But there are hardly seats and the room is quite narrow. We did not notice sanitary facilities. Therefore more suitable for one serving on hemp. Eiscafe de Fanti Downtown (3 – if it results too sweet, too little creamy the ice, but a good strawberry sauce. The service was also friendly. Eiscafe Leonardo Downtown (3 – if it turns out here the ice cream and the service were all right. But some varieties are somewhat firm or weak in aroma (vanilla, strawberry, for example. A friend who grew up in Bensberg posted a message on my facebook to go eat an ice cream there. So I went there with some colleagues for a refreshing ice cream on a hot summer day. First thing I did on arrival was take...a picture of the place from the street. While I was doing that the fully tattood owner who was standing outside came up to me close and was asking why I was taking a picture from his icecream shop in an unbelievable arrogant way. You have no idea. I would advice not to go there just for that reason alone being arrogant, unfriendly treatment. That is NOT the way to treat potential customers!
