Lili is the kindest person they could ever meet. he loves his job and does everything to make them feel comfortable. he helped me find vegan options that his wife finally cooked for us. it is all fresh and delicious, the portions are very large. atmosphere is great. highly recommended!
Lili, the owner is the most energetic and customer-centric owner I've met for a long time. flamboyant and happy, he seemed enthusiastic about our custom and happy told us about its vegan options. we had his tomatentolma, filled aubergine and 2 salads. all good, but the aubergine stole the show so tasteful! when we played ours, he was pleased that we liked it so much. highly recommended, even if it is only to meet this man!
We tried this restaurant on tripadvisor top rated and it's definitely worth the try! lily is the most friendly person we met during our trip in Albania! we even played with his sweet dog and visited his garden! we have tried almost all the dishes! there are many vegetarian decisions and lilis woman is a really good cook! aubergines were excellent and vegan. filled travelomates were also vegan! the byrek (spinch and kesefeuillet was the best we tried in this country! They opened a sweet little terrace in their own house and let them feel like at home! the next day we even went past his road and lili invited us to a Turkish coffee (best coffee we had in Albania) and raki! I recommend this place in any case for the quality of eating, the incredible service and the experience! we love lili! in the jeremy
First off, if you have problems with mobility, you prolly can't get there because you have to climb steep slippery craggy rock stairs and ramps up the scenic hillside. If you have a strict commitment to sobriety, maybe avoid because there's a non-zero chance the owner will, in a show of traditional hospitality, basically force you to drink raki. Refusing will be a grave insult. With that said, it's a really lovely place. This family set up a restaurant in the courtyard of their house and serve up traditional Albanian food, which includes some vegan options like stuffed eggplant and stuffed tomatoes and some salads. The owner is a ball of happy hospitable energy and is very proud of what they're doing. He serves wine his father makes and speaks a zillion languages (my girlfriend briefly chatted with him and Turkish and me in German). He is somewhat apologetic that his prices are high cuz entrees cost around 600lek (Antipatrea in the castle serves almost identical dishes for 300), but that's still less than $6, so whatever. He was dismayed when we tipped him, presumably cuz he owns this place. After a few exchanges he said he would only accept it on the condition that we drink more raki. While I am sober in normal life, there was no refusing this man, so I got drunk for the first time in a zillion years. I'm not mad, tho, and I would def go back if I end up in gorgeous Berat again.
