Asia Restaurant New Palace - Bensheim

Keep Asia Restaurant on a Sunday afternoon where most places until later in the evening do not eat, and I must say I was impressed by the choice of food in the buffet and it was as much as you want what...we have, we starve. All washed with a beer and at a good price, cannot go wrong'

Very good and cheap Chinese buffet, with few sushi and Maki, near the center of the town of Bensheim

Stopped off Asia Restaurant on a Sunday afternoon when most places were not serving food until later in the evening and I must say I was impressed with the choice of food in the buffet and it was eat as much as you like, which...we did, we were starving. As the (vastly better) China Restaurant Pavilion in nearby Auerbach was so full they in spite of their best efforts couldn't magic up a table for us, we decided to try the New Palace in Bensheim. This was an experience we don't plan to repeat....Positive: they had a table avaialble for us and we were hungry Negative: grim atmosphere with dull lighting overpriced at I think for evening buffet the selection of pre-prepared dishes at the buffet was extremely limited, and worse they all tasted exactly the same. It was downright unpleasant and was either stuff that had been warmed up for several days, or used awful quality ingredients. for the buffet itself again it gave the impression that instead of sourcing some decent ingredients they've gone for the cheapest possible supplier, whether it be fish or meat. The consistency of cooking was a bit suspect: I tried two plates; the first the seafood felt bordering on undercooked; the second time the meat was rather cooked to death. The sauces all appeared to taste the same and presumably came out of a bucket. I shouldn't be encouraging anyone to try the China Pavilion in Auerbach as it will make it even harder than it already is to get a table, but that is simply in a different league. I'd hoped to like the New Palace as we could really do with a decent alternative Chinese restaurant in the area, but in it's current form, I just can't. It wouldn't take that much to make it good it's a good location with easy parking; the restaurant is a good size and shape they just need to up their game.
