I would play outside while my stepdad, Troy, prepared meals in the kitchen for Carmen (rest in peace). It's such a wonderful spot with amazing people and delicious, affordable food! Please check it out, support it, and help keep this legacy alive during these challenging times!
This is a fantastic spot for families! The owner, Kook, was incredibly welcoming and even invited us to play chess with him. The menu is very budget-friendly; I paid under $40 for five people, drinks included. The chips are made in-house and come with salsa, borrachos, cheese, and a variety of other toppings. I learned that this restaurant has been around since the 1970s. The food is prepared from scratch and was absolutely delicious!
This restaurant is a very cozy, family-oriented spot. The food was delicious, and it's a must-visit! They serve their own chips with salsa, nacho cheese, and pinto beans. The salsa is served on the side, and you can pour your own drinks. The prices are very affordable; we ordered five plates plus drinks for just $36. There’s a large table for dining and four additional seats available. On cloudy days, they offer complimentary leche quemado sweets. The chef also shares the history of the place, which adds a nice touch.
Carmen’s is just a charming, picturesque small place on the side of the road. the owner is warm and friendly and so hospitable! he makes his own salsa both green and red, and I could have eaten on it alone! the place was his mother and he keeps it open in her memory. he also uses a lot of her recipes. as someone else said, there are sitting opportunities inside and in a covered screen in the area. I have the enchiladas with tears and borons. I loved the rice, perfectly cooked and only enough tomato and seasoned to make it very good. my dinner was wonderful. I'm so glad I stopped! and super affordable!
This place is an awesome little place to have lunch! Very rustic looking. The man there was also amazing. He played a game of chess after we ate lunch. Will definitely be going back! The man and his restaurant are a hidden gem
