Restaurant 1381 - Bellingen

The menu is small but everything is done well. It is good, relatively simple, country style food. My husband always orders the flathead when we eat out and he declared this to be the best ever (it was so very fresh with delicious tempura style batter), my steak was fantastic with really tasty sauce (you get a choice). I also loved the open fire and the rustic setting of the dining room and bar. It was generous and delicious. Not cutting edge modern or tricky but very enjoyable indeed. Like stepping back in time in a good way.

My girlfriend and I dined here over the weekend whilst staying at the Bellingen Valley Lodge. It was good Friday at dinner that we decided to eat. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Old worldy feeling with a massive fire place in the centre and gorgeous bar. Very clean and well presented.I had ordered the Vegetarian Cabonara and my girlfriend had the fried Flathead fish with chips and salad. My cabonara was so incredibly tasty. Pasta and veges were cooked perfectly and sauce was creamy but not too creamy. There was the right amount of sauce, my pasta and veges weren't drowning in it. So that's an A+++My girlfriend's fish wasn't too oily and was a decent sized portion, along side the warm, soft but crunchy chips and salad. Meals were $28 each but totally worth it. I would definitely dine here again.They have items with steak, chicken QED prawns. Menu is limited but you'll be guaranteed you won't be disappointed

I chose to eat here rather than drive into town for dinner. Turned out to be the best decision. They served a steak that I would expect from a city restaurant beside a roaring fire in a fireplace that two Santa's could fit down. The steak was mouth watering. The sticky date pudding was up there with the best I've had and with a couple of beers I still made it under $50. The locals are on a good thing here.

The spring rolls were delicious, but the main dishes were just okay.

Our waiter was excellent! The restaurant was very quiet and could have used some background music, but it was very clean and had super fast service.
