Bamboo Palace - Bellingen

Was a pretty nasty experience, the service was ok.. but more importantly the food was really bad. It was overpriced with below average serving sizes, the food it self was sort of sloppy.. could easily say it's the worst honey chicken I have ever eaten from a Chinese restaurant. The fried rice was good but that's hard to get wrong.Should have read more of the reviews, but most of them seem to be 5 star review created by one off reviewers..

Checking out TripAdvisor and seeking this local Chinese restaurant with rave reviews, I thought I would give it ago myself.I ordered Honey Chicken, Mongolian Lamb, Garlic Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork & Special Fried Rice as takeaway. It definitely wasn't fresh.. The Honey Chicken must have been microwaved, it was soggy and sitting in a slop of Cornsyrup, water, MSG and cornflour with no trace of honey at all absolutely bland..Mongolian Lamb & Garlic was average, I wont blow everything apart but it wasn't fresh and the taste of uncooked cornflour was through all the bland sauces.Sweet & Sour Pork Shared the same fate as the Honey chicken unfortunately, very soggy with watered down bland cornflour sauce.Special fried rice was ok, but it all went in the bin.. When picking it up, I already had doubts after seeing an Australian cook...

My partner and I visited Bellingen for the weekend and were intending to eat in here over the weekend but decided on take away. The lady running the front of house was super friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious! The locals are lucky to have this place.

Service was very prompt and friendly. Nice chatting with owner and his Mum. Beautiful food. Piping hot and fresh. Couldnt fault anything. Highly recommended.

This restaurant serves the best Chinese food. Despite the myth that Australians can't cook decent Chinese food, the chefs at this place were trained by Chinese cooks and have definitely mastered the craft. The main meals come in large portions, perfect for big eaters or to save leftovers for later. It's a family-run business that offers delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. Overall, dining at Bamboo Palace is a fantastic experience that both locals and visitors should try.
