I'm not sure if they're trying to cut costs, but the tea, which used to be excellent, is now a weaker version without the roasted rice flavor. The light soy sauce seems to be mostly just sodium. The chicken karaage is nicely fried, but it lacks flavor and doesn't have any ginger. The agedashi tofu, which used to be generously served in a delicious sauce, now has only about two spoonfuls, making it hard to taste at all. On the bright side, the California roll still tastes great!
Service was rude and the experience was extremely disappointing! I called the restaurant at 11:30 to place a pick-up order for 12:30, providing my name and phone number. When my friend arrived to pick up the food at 12:35, they hadn't prepared anything and didn't even apologize! The most absurd part was when an older Japanese server became aggressive and asked my friend to prove that he had placed the order. Despite providing my name and phone number, they insisted on confirmation before starting to prepare the food, which they clearly hadn't done! The server even asked my friend to use my phone to call the restaurant again to verify an order that they failed to fulfill! I will never return to this restaurant!
This place reminded me why Sushi is my favorite food. For medium to higher end prices, you will get high-quality sushi equipped with the best sushi restaurants in Washington. The fish melts in the mouth. If the price is relevant, this would be my best recommendation for Sushi restaurants in WA. Photos are of Chirashi scarf, Nigiri pieces, Squid
I dont know why I haven't eaten here before now. The food was authentic and great, though the menu may not be as expansive than similar restaurants. They specialize in appetizers, sushi and bento boxes, but they have some other entrees and noodle bowls. The restaurant is actually larger than expected, but honestly sitting up front seems better because the service is better. The bento boxes are great and come with your choice of sashimi or rolls. We also tried the curry chicken katsu, seafood noodle and several rolls. Everything was great, and the food came out faster than anywhere else I can remember and even faster than some fast food places. We didn't have a reservation, and it wasn't a problem, but I would reccomend making them in the future as there was alot of traffic, people ordering takeout, etc. I would highly advise trying Kiku Sushi.
Typical American Japanese restaurant. Their food is pretty good but not great. The price is also fair.
