In 1854, the German Baron of Beaufort, who bought it, believed that in the past the castle belonged to its avi and then finally gave it to the municipality of Belforte. Today the whole castle and village are well visible already from the bridge on the river Isauro. The complex immediately appears well preserved. A short ascent leads to the castle. Shortly after a staircase surmounted by an arch, it allows access to a panoramic terrace overlooking the still existing walls. Here are some stone houses and the entrance of the castle that today is occupied by a hostel. Unfortunately for me, it is not always open and this has prevented me from visiting inside. Speaking with some local people I learn that inside there are no more interesting historical parts. To see absolutely the group of stone houses that are located beyond the asphalted road (access passing under the road bridge), a small extension of the village that has maintained some peculiar characteristics. A single alley that ends on the vegetation that runs along the river with stone houses now abandoned, doors and wooden doors consumed by the time that are not opened for years (full of webs), sandstone portals that time has partly eroded. A small split of a reality of other times.
Belforte is here suspended between the Marche and Tuscany, on the ancient lands of Massa Trabaria. The castle offers a warm welcome, accessible to all, in rooms and rooms that time has not removed charm.
The castle deserves a visit. Too bad it's not always open and so you're likely to get there and not be able to access it.
I pass and take back many times under his walls for work reasons. I never noticed but one day I stopped and... I discovered its beauty In its GRANDE and majestic simplicity that embraces your gaze you find a return back in time. Looking up towards the roof you see the clouds running in the sky Then below where the river runs everything was timeless. looking at the bridge that stands above...a car that passes breaks the charm and brings you back to the noise of the water that repeats you: pull away that you make night and stop dreaming. He deserves to stop and who knows that under his walls you understand to meet the BEATA Ticchi!
Ancient stronghold on the border between Marche and Tuscany in the upper Montefeltro with hospitality inside in old rooms with near other possibilities in the adjacent village
