Same Happy - Belfast

Love this place: the perfect Hong Kong style roast duck and roast pork belly. About £10-12 for two roast meats (duck breast being most expensive) on a decent bowl of rice, which i think is reasonable for the quality of the meat and the portion size. Doesn't open on Saturdays and is cash only. Yeah, it's basic inside, but it's all about the authentic food here!

So maybe change the name of the restaurant! However the staff were quite friendly and decor was fine. I like the family feel of this place, though the tables were very close together. Out of the three roasts: char siu (was quasi tasty); duck (was way too bony so much so that I was nearly choking with every mouthful) pork (was my favourite didn't have much competition) In short, I was left less happy than when I went in

My experience at Same Happy left me feeling more traumatized than happy. One of the waitresses was very rude and took out her anger on customers. When I asked for a different table due to a draft by the entrance, my request was bluntly refused even though the restaurant was hardly full. I made a mistake by not having enough cash for my takeaway order, as I was not aware they only accepted cash payments. This resulted in a loud shouting match with the waitress, who then ordered me to wait outside in the cold while my food was being prepared. Feeling embarrassed and traumatized, I decided to leave my takeout behind and not return to collect it. The food also gave me indigestion, possibly due to eating too quickly in an uncomfortable environment. The only positive aspect was a waitress who refilled my tea mug with warm tea. Overall, my experience at Same Happy was unpleasant and I would not recommend it.

I couldn't ask for anything more - excellent food, friendly service, and reasonable prices! The roast duck and crispy pork were fantastic, especially when you choose the combo option. I absolutely loved it!

Have just eaten here today…I’d go back again tomorrow if I could! Lovely homely Chinese food…no frills, no pretensions .Simply great food served by lovely friendly people .
