Whenever I eat Chinese food, I typically choose from one of three Chinese restaurants. Boston Chinese is one of those options, and my family also orders from there. On June 24, 2024, my partner and I placed an order and specifically requested no vegetables as my partner has allergies. However, our food arrived with vegetables on it. We had also requested no peas on the kids' meal, which was correct. I called the restaurant to explain the situation and asked if we could get a new dish made without vegetables if we came to the shop. The response I received was disappointing, as they said, "no, then the chefs will lose money." This attitude was unacceptable, especially since I hadn't even spoken to the chef directly. Despite feeling frustrated that they were not willing to make it right, I ended the call knowing that nothing would be done. My partner had to order from another Chinese restaurant, spending more money. I tried some of the chow mein myself, and I can only describe it as unenjoyable. It was clear that the food came from a Chinese restaurant with poor hygiene standards. After this experience, I will not be returning to Boston Chinese and will make sure to inform others about the subpar service and food quality. I left feeling frustrated and disappointed.
I ordered a half and half curry with chicken balls, and it was the worst I've had in a long time. The curry was watered down and the chips looked undercooked. I always drive by Boston and think about trying it, but after this experience, I won't be back. I ended up throwing it in the bin - definitely not as good as people say.

I have loved this place as our local Chinese for years. For the last few months unfortunately, the food has not been quite the same since the chefs moved on elsewhere: 1) the chicken used in the salted chilli dishes at least seems to be rather cheap, slimy and stringy in texture; 2) the soups are now being served in rectangular plastic takeaway boxes instead of the usual polystyrene bowls; 3) the soups contain large blobs of a jelly looking substance (resembling snot) which tastes disgusting if you are unlucky to swallow the soup without seeing it on your spoon before consuming it I think this must be blobs from some sort of flavouring cubes which haven't fully dissolved into the soups before they have been served and I have tried more than one flavour of soup here with both flavours having the undissolved blobs. I will still continue to order food from The Boston however, and hope these little issues can be fixed. Regards.
