Ship Bottom Brewery - BEACH HAVEN

This is a fantastic place to relax! You can bring your own food, and there's a wonderful sandwich shop downstairs that’s dog-friendly. The atmosphere is casual, with TVs showing sports. They offer a wide selection of beers—more than 10 options, along with a seltzer and frozen slushie. If you discover a drink you enjoy, you can even buy four-packs to take home!

My wife and I have always enjoyed the beers and ciders from Ship Bottom Brewery, so we finally decided to visit and try some of their offerings in person. Like many breweries these days, their menu included an IPA along with other options, although they didn’t have any stouts, porters, or brown ales. The server was friendly and patiently waited while we made our choices. My wife opted for a Pear Seltzer, and I chose the Three Hour Tour, partly due to the Gilligan's Island reference and because I generally enjoy wheat beers. Unfortunately, we were both quite disappointed with our selections. The seltzer was excessively sweet, reminiscent of melted Italian ice, and my wheat beer was also overwhelmingly sweet. To be fair, if I had read the beer's description beforehand, I probably wouldn’t have ordered it since I usually don’t enjoy sweet, fruity beers; this one had notes of pineapple, orange, and coconut. In the end, neither of us finished our drinks. While we were disheartened by our choices, I would still consider returning next year since I know I enjoy many of their other offerings. This location in Beach Haven is a perfect spot to catch the sunset—just be sure to pick the right beer!

There’s a short self-guided walking tour, which focuses more on observation points in the brewery area rather than a full tour. Their beer is well-known locally, both in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and it's available at many locations listed on their website. Overall, their brewery has a fun vibe, and we will definitely return the next time we visit Long Beach Island.

The beer is good but the list of rules is longer then the list of beers. This place is not good for kids or large groups. They get 2 stars for decent beer.

I stopped by here earlier today by myself. My family and I had been to the Taylor Avenue Waterfront a couple of days earlier and I had noticed Ship Bottom Brewery. So whenever we were there later in the week, I was able to stop by. The brewery itself is located on the second floor and consists of a couple of different places to place your order and then a bunch of seating. It's also being your own food and I saw a couple of tables with pizza and fries from somewhere else. You can also do a self paced tour but I didn't want to take too long and so I did not go. As I often do whenever I go to a new brewery, I ordered a flight here. At ship bottom you can choose either a 4 beer sampler or an 8 beer. Since I didn't want to get drunk, I chose the 4 beer. For my beers I chose the mermaid strawberry blonde, the hop and hazy, the shack IPA and the do not pass gose ale. My first beer was the Mermaid strawberry blonde which was light and crisp with a hint of strawberry at the finish. I imagine that it would be a great beach beer. Up second was the hop and hazy and you could really get the hops on the nose. It ended up being tasty with a nice and big juiciness to finish it off. My third beer was The Shack IPA which was smooth up front and had a light hop taste on the finish. Maybe it was the hazy IPA before it blocking some of the hoppiness on my palate but it was a lot less hoppy than expected. Last but certainly not least was the do not pass gose ale. It had a nice and flavorful start with a bit of sourness before finishing with that dryness that gose are known for. Out of the bunch, the hop and hazy was easily my favorite of the bunch although I was a big fan of the gose too. The bottom for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I really enjoyed the hop and hazy and liked that it was bring your own food too.
