Restau Biak - Bayonne

Went there, hoping for great basic cuisine. Every dish we had (were a party of 4) was OK, but none was actually astonishing. So a liitle bit of desapointment there...

We stopped in here as their first diners of the evening, very early by French standards, but we had a couple of toddlers in tow.We were able to sit on the riverside and it was stunning, there are no cars on that side, and the barrier along the water is far safer for kids, so that was a big plus! They brought out the kids food promptly, followed by our starters. The prawn salad was a highlight; the honeyed crumble was such a unique addition - enjoyed heartily by the whole table, everyone had to try it! The dressing was delicious too, a great start to the meal.Our mains were in typical French style, simple, but yummy.I was a little underwhelmed with the pain perdu for dessert - the bread itself was lacking, and none of the three sauces it was served with managed to elevate it.However, the odd choice of the night; cheesecake crepes, were a hit.They'd smeared cheesecake on a crepe, rolled it up and called it dessert - another little quirk in the menu for sure, but another little triumph.

Had lunch here recently. Location was excellent as I had an outdoor table right on the river. Food was also very good. Had the duck and foie gras burger. It was delicious but very rich. Would recommend.

Great food! Nice wine list! Great service! I like it! Try it! It's worth it. Perfect place for a group bday party.
