The road from Baunei is impressive, but is worth the trip. The food is very genuine, we had mixed appetizers, abundant and tasty, and exquisite culurgiones, the home made ravioli. We had them twice. The local dessert, seadas, was excellent, topped with mirth liqueur and the price very reasonable, some 25 euros each. Personnel was friendly and quick. We have already been back for several years, and will in the future!
We asked the tourist information office at Baunei where to go for the local specialties. She told us to go here, book in advance and have both the pork and the mountain goat. You have to pre-order these, because they take about 5 hrs to cook. The girl at Tourist info made the reservation for us and we had a memorable meal. Service was excellent, very friendly and informative. We had local cheeses and cold meats for starters, followed by a huge platter full of pork and goat. The pork was a bit fatty, but the meaty bits were very tasty. The goat was very, very chewy bit the flavor was fabulous. The meat was just chewy because of the texture of it, not because it was bad quality. I really loved the goat meat. The local wine was nice and affordable. Altogether a great meal in a beautiful setting, with excellent service. Highly recommended for those who like to taste local and different food!
We came here one afternoon for lunch. The food was exceptional, especially the mushroom pasta! One of our favourite meals in Sardinia. The service was really good and it's in a lovely setting. Highly recommend!!
My boyfriend and me spent there on night in a tent. Facilities were good and I actually really liked the idea that you need to pay for water in shower (and for 50 euro cents you still get plenty!!! . The place is calm and peaceful. Dinner was good.
We first came across this Rifugio through internet browsing and we fell in love with it and decided to spend at least two nights at this 'magical ' place. We were so keen to stay there that when they told us they had no room we were ready to stay in their camping area. We were pleasantly surprised when on arrival we were offered the option of staying in a room instead of the tent. However, this was the only thing that we were happy with in this place. Although this place is set in a beautiful area surrounded with nature and animals, the standard of the rifugio itself is much to be desired. The room was shabby and had a nasty smell coming out of the bathroom. The place was very noisy. Although the place had a wonderful terrace where breakfast could be served and the weather was perfect, we were restricted to eat inside a room which was very stuffy and dark. Breakfast was served in plastic plates and cups and the availability of waiters was scarce. The one time we had dinner the food was good however out of a list of options in the menu we were restricted to only one type of meat and the starter and main course were served together. It a pity that a place with such a potential lacks so much in standard.
