Upon entering Addington Hills Cafe we couldn't believe we were in Battle Creek. It was like entering a cozy New York bistro. We were immediately greeted by their gracious hostess and were pleasantly surprised by their extensive wine list. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and willing to please. For an appetizer we ordered the prosciutto wrapped asparagus. It was delicious! For my entree I ordered the veal hunter's style. It was very tender and the sauce, wonderful. My husband ordered the Filet Mignon and said it was excellent. For dessert we had the Creme Brulee'. It was made in house and out of this world!! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We were very excited to try this restaurant as they had recently started serving dinner on Friday and Saturday nights only. The atmosphere was good, situated in an old house. I was a little taken aback when one of the cooks, who was dressed like a short-order cook, made his appearance in the dining room and went into a side-storage room to retrieve something in boxes. He left the door opened and the light on as he went in and I could see that the room looked like an old, dark basement of a room with junk all over the place. I ordered Crimany Mushroom Ravioli. What I got was heated up, frozen ravioli with scarce tomato sauce. One would expect mushroom ravioli to be in a mushroom cream sauce, however it was dry and fresh out of the microwave in tomato based sauce. Each ravioli was perfectly round indicating it had been made in a factory. There was absolutely no mushroom flavor at all. When asked how our dinner was, I gave honest feedback to the hostess who insisted it was prepared the day before. Then the manager visited our table after and admitted to us that it was exactly what I thought, stating, they were in a pinch . Appalling! After asking us what they could do, but offering nothing tangible to make it right, we decided to end our evening. We paid fine dining prices for a frozen T.V. dinners. My husband ordered Veal Piccata with linguini. Honestly, a fast-food restaurant could have cooked the veal better. It was dry, un-breaded, and flavorless as it sat on the side of the linguini refusing to marry in flavors at all. I think I observed 2-3 capers total in his linguini. After our dinner, our waitress disappeared entirely. These folks should stick to breakfast service only. I would not recommend this restaurant.
"That was so good I want to lick my plate." Said my father in law after eating the ribeye specialThe food was delicious I had the burger.
Driving across Michigan on the 94, there aren't too many good options for tasty food right off the highway.
