Some dishes can be a bit oily and salty, but there are plenty of options that are not overly seasoned. It’s a good idea to ask the waitress for recommendations, especially if you want something less salty. Some of my favorite dishes include the house aubergine (my favorite veggie bowl), Omi pork (fried pork with potatoes in a pot), spicy crispy intestines (a must-try if you’re feeling adventurous), and Chinese BBQ lamb skewers (meat seasoned with spices), among others. I highly recommend trying a variety of dishes to find your favorites. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for gatherings and anyone seeking a taste of authentic Chinese food in the city.
Omi is the go-to spot for authentic Chinese cuisine. My favorite dishes are the various pork belly offerings and the lamb hot pot. The pork belly and taro are absolutely fantastic!
I think Omi is a great value, but very misunderstood. The food is authentic and the content of each dish is very fresh. GO if you want REAL Chinese dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and are vegetarians. DON'T GO if you can't use to ask a spicy plate, but then complain it's too spicy and don't go if you want $100 value of the ambience and a $12 meal. Just order from one of the franchise food mills.
This is the best Chinese food in Baton Rouge! Many reviews mention the Japanese dishes, but this restaurant is owned by Chinese people, so skip the sushi. The bamboo shoot pig is the best Chinese dish I've ever tasted! The service is consistently excellent, and if you visit during certain times, you'll receive a complimentary bowl of delicious hot and sour soup, along with watermelon with your bill. Don't miss out!
Ordered lunch here while staying at the Drury Inn across the parking lot. We ordered sashimi and flounder bento boxes with sides of egg drop soup and hot sour soup. The sashimi was generously proportioned and the California roll was tasty, but not tacky from being boxed. The hot and sour soup was very hearty, but without being too thick or overly seasoned. The egg drop soup was like I've had it on Chinese commercial vessels, lightly flavored with bits of tomato. The founder was very tasty and enjoyable. I plan on eating here again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in the area.
