However, we then had to wait at least 25 minutes for our plates to be cleared, despite the staff passing our table frequently. Our wait for the main courses was also lengthy, and when I inquired about the delay, the food surprisingly arrived shortly after. Unfortunately, it was lukewarm and quite disappointing. At this point, my husband was thoroughly fed up, so I requested the bill and informed them that I would not be paying the 12.5% service charge. A woman who I assumed was the restaurant manager came to speak with me, and I explained our experience. She apologized and kindly reduced the bill. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I had lunch at the brasserie with my wife and my 96-year-old mother. The staff were very helpful, guiding us through the parking lot. We all enjoyed a variety of starters, some salad, and dessert. The duck parfait was exquisite, but the Scotch egg fell short of expectations. The salad was fantastic, as was the cheese board, although, like many places, it was served too cold. Overall, the service was good. The total bill came to £154, including a bottle of wine. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £50–60.
Firstly, if you are visiting for dinner have limited mobility you’re in for a tough time. Not only is it a distance from the car park the terrain isn’t the best, especially in the dark. It could absolutely do with better signage. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, relaxing, informal with friendly staff. The charcuterie plate was pleasant with plenty of pickles capers. A wider selection of meat would make this truly a stand out plate. The kedgeree scotch egg was a little bland very oily. The flavour was there, just really muted. Ribeye was particularly good value, not too fatty but more time could have been spent rendering this further. I didn’t appreciate the inclusion of the basting herbs, these were hidden under the steak easily found their spikey way into my mouth. The apple tart was disappointing rather expensive for the portion. The tart base was painfully brittle the filling a bland slightly sour apple purée. The Malbec wasn’t the best, very underwhelming, lacking colour fruit with very thin legs. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
The outdoor area is lovely, and the food is both hearty and delicious.
