I would like to start my review by awarding 5 stars to this bistro located outside its original place in France. As a chain restaurant, it was a bit challenging for me, but I had a very enjoyable and memorable experience. The location, situated in an overnight parking lot, was unique and added to the cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. The friendly and hospitable staff, especially Daniel, contributed to the overall positive experience. The service was quick and efficient, with all employees showing kindness. The menu offered options for 1, 2, or 3 courses at attractive prices, and the quality and presentation of the food was excellent. I visited during lunchtime on a weekday and the restaurant was completely full, which speaks to its popularity, although it could get a bit chaotic during peak hours.
This place has has a good selection of various dishes from France which you could watch being prepared (depending on where you're seated) I loved that aspect of this restaurant. The food here is amazing too, with a good selection of wines and french bread while you wait for your food. The waiters were also quite understanding to any requests which is very rare to see these days. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone!
Finally, I found a café that serves a proper cappuccino (not a flat white with unnecessary latte art). This French bistro outshines the various Italian and British hipster coffee spots in Bath when it comes to achieving the perfect milk foam. The full English breakfast was visually appealing and reportedly a satisfying meal. The black pudding was a bit overcooked, but everything else was excellent. I tried the pancakes with maple syrup, but unfortunately found them to be dry and overcooked, with a strange lack of maple syrup flavor. However, the reasonable prices made up for any disappointing aspects of the meal.
Regretfully i have to give this restaurant a two star review due to the poor service we received. The staff were extremely slow. There were only two of us and it took nearly two and half hours from first arriving to paying the bill. We ended up missing our intended train back to London as a result so had to catch a later one. We were seated quickly but it then took 20 minutes for someone to come and take our food order. Our starters and mains arrived in a decent time but it then took a waiter another 20 minutes to clear our empty plates and another 10 minutes to bring our desserts. Bizarrely, instead of clearing our table and bringing our desserts, the staff cleared tables of parties that had left even though there were no customers queuing for a table in the restaurant. I don’t know if the excessive waiting was due to the lack of staff but the waiters need prioritise better. The food was on a whole good but not the best French food i have had in the UK. Improvements could have been made: our chorizo appetiser was served lukewarm when it should have been hot. We ordered off the set menu which offers two courses for £18.95. Portion sizes were pretty good.
