When we entered around 8:32 PM, the woman working there informed us that she wanted to close early and that we couldn’t get any ice cream. I pointed out the sign on the door indicating their hours, but she acknowledged it and said she still preferred to close early. It seemed to me that she was just being lazy; all I wanted was a single scoop of ice cream, and I would have tipped her if she had been more pleasant.
Every time we've attempted to visit, the restaurant has been closed. The latest we went was at 9:30 PM, and there were no cars in the parking lot and no lights on inside, indicating they had closed long before. Unless you’re looking to have ice cream for dinner or you're one of the lucky ones who can eat early, it's probably best to get your frozen treats somewhere else.
Living in a rural area, having a restaurant nearby is definitely a plus! They offer a fantastic selection, although the flavors do change frequently, so you can't always expect to find your favorite every time you visit. However, the flavors do cycle back eventually! They also do a great job of keeping pre-made cakes and quarts available, which is very convenient.
Looked on Google and said open 24 hours so decided to stop by....got there and lights were on and sign said open so in we went. The girl refused to serve us saying they closed at 7 (it was 7:06). If your going to close early at least turn your sign off so potential customers won?t waste their time walking in only to be turned away.
I went in to the Bates City, MO location around 7 pm this evening. The young lady serving the ice cream was not wearing a mask and was breathing directly into the cooler and then on to our ice cream. It was disgusting. I know it?s no longer Jackson County, but it?s close enough that you?d think they?d be taking precautions and at the very least, protecting their customers and employees from exposure. I didn?t want to embarrass her in front of the seated customers, so I cut my order short, paid, walked out and threw it away. We went a few exits down to a nearby ice cream place that is clean and workers are wearing PPE, as recommended by the CDC. Next time I want Baskin Robbins, I will head West. That was my last time at the Bates City location.
