Best Western Lion - Bassetlaw

Whenever I meet a friend for lunch in town, we always come to this restaurant. However, yesterday we were disappointed to find that the menu was very limited, only offering sandwiches or jacket potatoes. I decided to have the cheese and onion sandwich on brown bread. I was expecting a higher quality, possibly made with granary bread, but instead it came on the thinnest and cheapest bread available. Both my friend and I are vegetarian and were disappointed to see that the sizzling halloumi plate, which we had enjoyed in the past, was no longer on the menu.

Stayed for 2 nights in a spotless,quiet room with everything we needed. Tea,coffee,shower gel etc. Breakfast east tasty with a very good selection of hot and cold food. We booked through Groupon so terrific value for money. Right in the centre of Worksop with free parking. Would recommend to anyone.

Worksop town centre may have limited dining options, but this restaurant seems to be a popular choice among both locals and visitors. The menu is diverse and the staff is welcoming and attentive.

Beautiful food. Extremely good value for money. The Sticky Toffee pudding was incredible. Definately go again

Recently visited here for a Family birthday meal, last minute decision and impulse booking. On arrival there was about 6 people in the restaurant which left me dubious but it was the 4th of Jan (just after Xmas) and a Thursday, so didn’t worry too much. Staff sorted drinks and a table pretty quickly. One waitress (didn’t get her name) was very polite and kept checking if we were ready to order but left a reasonable amount of time between asking, once we were ready the waitress promptly took the order without any issues. Starters arrived quickly, two of us had starters which were very nice, portion size a little small on the garlic mushrooms but very tasty. For mains Sea bass, Salmon, Chicken, Burger. All arrived really well presented, and still piping hot, rare these days!! I had the chicken breast which was delicious and plentiful, everyone else had very good comments to make about their meals. The Chef is obviously very talented and runs a good kitchen. The atmosphere was lacking and let it down a bit, probably as it was so quiet and it’s a large room to fill. The bar area was busy as we left so it’s obviously a popular watering hole. 4 very nice meals inc two starters and 1 desert with 2 rounds of drinks £77 you really can’t grumble at that. Will definitely visit again for the food alone. Some staff need a little more motivation but most were very good. Given a 4 but would have gone 3.5 if possible, so was generous because the food was very good and rounded up. Food 4/5 Staff 3.5/5 Atmosphere 3/5
