Wellington Arms - Basingstoke

First visit (friends recommendation). Pleasant friendly cosy place. Lovely fire place and staff. Very chilling and relaxing atmosphere. Shame is closing in a week however planning to return to check if new management kept its character.

I was somewhat let down during this visit to the restaurant. We had to send back the soup because it was served cold, which was unexpected considering another table had also experienced the same issue before we ordered. Despite dining here multiple times before, I felt that the staff were not very attentive. When paying the bill with my card, I left a tip in cash. However, the young man seemed more interested in quickly taking the money without even saying thank you.

A warm welcome, good service and an interesting although rather basic menu meant we had a pleasant lunch. Staff very attentive.

Our second visit to the wellington arms. Traditional décor, good food and exceptional service combine to make a very pleasant experience. Would strongly recommend.
