Diamond Sushi - Barrie

We picked up my son for a break from camp at Blackdown. He's a big fan of sushi so we went came for the buffet. I'm very disappointed given the many plaques hanging on the wall awarding this restaurant voted people's favourite sushi restaurant for ten years in a row. Maybe it was an off night but the chef seemed pretty sloppy about making our nigiri and sushi rolls. It seemed that someone kept on crushing the avocado slices for dish after dish that we were served. The sushi rolls looked nice at first but when you looked closer the fish slices on top were smaller than the nails on my little finger. The restaurant had these neat ipads for placing your order but it doesn't help when the chef loses count of the number of pieces that you order and takes forever to fill it. The wait staff were pretty good but somebody in management seems to think if you skimp here and there no one will notice. Could be good but it's poor value at the moment.

If you are not familiar with the ordering process, ask. Some items are shown on the IPad without quantity, in these cases, assume 1 piece even if picture shows 2. If wanting Sake, order via wait staff. Had a good meal so I recommend Diamond Sushi.

I have visited Barrie 8 times in the last year. Sadly, it was on my last visit, that I discovered Diamond Sushi. I fell in love with sushi while living on Vancouver Island, and have found sushi in Ontario (for the most part) expensive, and sub-par.I found Diamond Sushi to be a "very" pleasant surprise. The venue and location are not the most enticing, but the food and prices more than make up for it.If you enjoy your sushi, there is no better stop in Southern Ontario.

Amazingly fresh sashimi, tasty maki, great flavours. Interesting to order on iPads, but that is becoming more ordinary.Excellent service, prompt delivery to the table. Reasonable prices ( flat rate lunches and dinners - all you can eat).Not an impressive place, decor is not flashy, but it's clean, and has some interesting Japanes inspired elements.Overall, quite deserving of the awards hanging on their walls.

Always a go to spot. Their super fast and really friendly. The food was incredible lots of variety and colourful with the presentation. Great Job.
