For a big group dinner. I liked the food. Nice starter mushroom in wine and cheese. Seafood risotto very tasty. Beautiful end with fruit suspiro. Ate outdoors and temperature was perfect. Music lives with good singer. will win
Ordered Angus and Pepper steaks. The taste and presentation were great. Very kind and always aware crew. The environment is very original.
I had dinner recently at what was known previously as Jack Bistro, but I believe now is only called Jack. The name appears to have some relationship to Jack Daniel 's, although they are not allowed to say that. The sign outside said simply Jack and Open . I think they changed the name due to a nearby restaurant called 51 Bistro . The location is beautiful architecturally, due to being located in an old dwelling, but other than that, there is not much to distinguish it. It is elegant, but not overly so. The prices are rather high, especially for the amount of food that is served. I ordered the Pescado Muniere which was described as being served over a bed of green beans. What I envisioned from the description that the waiter gave, and what arrived were completely different. I had envisioned a whole filet of fish served over a bed or cama de habichuelas green beans. What arrived was a wide slice of broiled robalo served over four skimpy little green beans hardly a bed! The rest of the large plate was empty, no rice or anything else. Perhaps the portion of fish was adequate, but not for US$20.00+. For beverages, we chose to drink fruit punch with no added sugar. This also was quite good, but not for 15,000 Colombian pesos each....probably US$6 or $7 each drink with no liquor in it, just fruit juice. The funny thing was that on the bill, it was described as a Mojito without liquor! My special guest for the evening chose to order a Cesar Salad with Chicken. There was nothing special about this dish, it is the same most anywhere in the world that you order it, yet it too was somewhat pricy. The best food we had that night was the dessert, called Merengon de frutas . I would recommend this to anyone visiting the restaurant. It was served in a Mason type jar in the middle of the table, and they brought us two spoons, but no plates or bowls, which I would recommend. The dessert is sweetened milk cream, with pieces of strawberry and other fruits, and small pieces of crunchy merengue. It is absolutely delicious, but so sweet, that it needs to be accompanied by coffee or tea. The bill for two people was 122,000 pesos, probably more than US$55.00 . My comment about the meal was that it was good, but not spectacular. I have had better meals in Barranquilla in Mailia, Pulpo Paul, and Barranquilla Plaza. Good restaurant food in Barranquilla is expensive in general, but the portions served in this restaurant do not merit such high prices. If it were not that I had such good company for my meal, who wanted to try this place, I would certainly have gone elsewhere.
Okay, I always want to be fair when I write a review. The atmosphere is very beautiful and romantic. We stayed there on the evening of February 23, 2017. I went with 5 friends. The food wasn't the best. The steak I received was very dry. My other friend had the same dish and it was also dry. The food was not the worst or best, but the big problem was three of us 6 were sick the next morning. Maybe it was something else, but it just seemed random.
