The Talbot Inn - Barnsley

Came to talbot on Sunday and booked the 1776 restaurant. When first arrived everything was perfect, even had 2 bartenders serving me for 3 drinks!! Speedy service. However when we sat down it all went downhill, my self personally I only eat chicken, on the menu there was no chicken option. I saw the bar menu when we was downstairs and saw they did a chicken burger. So I asked the waiter if I could possibly order from the downstairs menu, he promptly said no. I couldn’t believe it, I asked for the manager. Asked him the same question and again he said it was their policy. ‘Policy’ what a joke. I was out with my partners family for the first time and didn’t want to make a scene so I let the manager go and ordered a vegetarian starter and portion of chips. Now question to the owner? There was 10 of us on this table and we spent £500 in the trip out with food and drinks. If I was with my family I promise all 10 of us would have walked out over bringing a chicken burger upstairs. Pathetic policy, pathetic service and most of all pathetic customer service. Will very gladly be not returning. Would highly recommend crown and anchor just up the road.

Had an excellent meal here today huge portions of very well cooked food at a reasonable price. The service was friendly and the restaurant is very cosy. We are not local but will visit again when we are in the area Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Me and my partner went for a meal and had arancini for starter, the mushroom pie and steak for our mains, and a dessert cocktail afterwards. All was absolutely lovely and great service, looking forward to going again. Vegetarian options: They didn’t have the widest choice of vegetarian options but there was still a couple of different starters mains to choose from, and they had a veggie option on the specials menu too. Price per person: £30–40
