We went to this restaurant on Sunday 29th July. They did say closing in 10 minutes however we were offered a seat and a meal. I had duck and the trimmings and my partner had smoked chop. Both amazing. Service fantastic and prices could have been more for the quality of food.
A group of 12 of us visited La Potiniere for Sunday lunch after travelling over from Jersey. The restaurant was buzzing and there was a large group of about fifty people celebrating after a child 's Christening. We were given a nice table and enjoyed the atmosphere, but particularly the view over the beach. Be aware that if you order sardines as a starter, they come with chips as a main course. This wasn 't a problem in our case as some in the group had ordered the Seafood Platter and were delighted to have some chips to accompany their bread. The sardines were declared excellent, moist and juicy just as they should be. I opted for a salad 'gesiers ' that came with smoked duck, foie gras and a range of gizzards it was very good indeed. The plates of seafood including oysters and bulots (whelks), looked very good if that is your thing. This came with mayonnaise and plenty of delicious french baguette. One in our group went for the entrecôte steak that was good, my wife went for the lobster linguine which she enjoyed, another friend ordered the fish and chips that came with floured pieces of fish instead of batter which was declared a hit, whilst three of us opted for the lamb chops. The chops were a little fatty but cooked very well, whilst the accompanying chips were hot and tasty. A range of puddings was ordered and with copious wine, we all agreed it was a very enjoyable lunch. The food wasn 't exceptional but tasty and good value we would happily return!
Walked the 500+ metres from the top of Carteret following the signs for La Potinière and wondering where we were being led to having not seen it during the day. The restaurant is ideally situated on the beach with fab views! It is funky in its decor with great lights at night time and a lovely modern inside. When we first arrived I was asked if I had booked and nearly turned away (this seemed to be a feature of all restaurants we went to in Carteret so be warned). When I pushed a little more and the kids stood there looking starving they found us a table. The staff were friendly, easy going, excellent English speakers and responsive! The food was excellent large portions of seafood/meats etc very tasty! Overall great location, great service and fab food highly recommended but do book!
Coming here for years. This time visited twice for lunch in four days. Perfect setting on a sunny day, but be early if you want to sit outside, because they don't take bookings at lunchtime. Sardines, spare ribs, burger, king prawns still our favourites. Portions good, chips nice. Food arrives surprisingly quick after ordering. Staff amazing, so efficient and friendly, very hard working. No surprise will visit next time whilst in France.
