Mary Beale Restaurant Terrace Bar

Yesterday, we had a wonderful time celebrating my 70th birthday at this restaurant with my family of eight. The food and service were outstanding. The staff was attentive and helpful, making our experience even more enjoyable. Both the food and the wine were fantastic. I highly recommend this place to everyone. I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. While the hotel and its surroundings are stunning, and the dining area and service were excellent, the food did not live up to expectations. The mackerel starter was quite bland, offering little more than a slice of pickled mackerel. The chicken was also underwhelming—just a piece of battered chicken breast served alongside a handful of pre-packaged salad leaves from the supermarket. To make matters worse, both potatoes and vegetables came at an additional cost, which pushed the overall price to a level that didn't reflect the quality of the meal. It's such a pity.

We enjoyed afternoon tea here for a baby shower, and it was delightful. The service was outstanding, and the staff were very attentive. They even brought out extra sandwiches, which was a nice touch. We also appreciated that we weren’t rushed to leave.

I attended a surprise birthday afternoon tea, and it was simply wonderful. The decor was lovely, and the staff were attentive, polite, and professional, while also being warm and friendly. They accommodated various allergies and dietary preferences without any issues. We even received a second round of sandwiches and an extra pot of tea. The cakes and scones were delicious, and they kindly provided a box so we could take home the leftover cakes. The building itself is beautiful, set in a picturesque location.

A beautiful place and locations with wonderful happy staff. Went for afternoon tea and had plenty of it. Our lovely kind waitress was perfect and had excellent customer service skills . We all had a lovely time here and will definitely be coming back. I can’t recommend this place enough. It was not like other stuffy places and we had a wonderful relaxing time and not being rushed at all.
