My sister opted for the vegetarian option and was offered two sides, I went for the fish (slightly more expensive) and was only offered one side because my sister's was the veggie option ? Why does a veggie dish warrant two extra veggie portions but the more expensive fish dish only warrant one veggie side? I was also upset to find that the water was given out in small plastic cups when it used to be served in glass tumblers. In this day and age when we're trying to cut back on plastic why the change? And why paper cups for tea? On a plus note the garden is always lovely and it is a great place to while away an afternoon after a good walk on the heath.
We eat at The Brewhouse fairly regularly, as the food is wholesome good value for money. The staff are friendly help to provide a great atmosphere in a unique venue for drinks, snacks, lunch or afternoon teas.
I highly recommend you do not order the chorizo sausage roll, the meat it self smelled like a wet dog and it didn’t taste much better, between the meat and the pastry was an odd slime that was very off-putting. I think perhaps it was not thoroughly cooked. I wanted to contact them directly to give them this feedback, but I could not find any contact details. Please avoid disappointment!
Great place to sit outside in the garden with fresh scones and pot of tea, sunny and green. Quite reasonably priced for tea. The pigeons can be a bit annoying when they fly onto the tables to eat left over cake! Good selection of cakes, hot food at lunch time, wine available too.
Came here yesterday (15.4.19) with my husband for an early lunch. It helps that most of London city are on their Easter hols, so it was lovely and quiet at The Brew House. We ordered the salmon fish cakes. Everything was beautifully cooked, price was £11.95 per dish. This is fine. People moaning on here about the prices, well, it's London. A dish like this is just not going to cost £6.95 or whatever. It's all handmade as well, the mash cooked from scratch, the fish cakes were home made as well. I also polished off a delicious chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips, I think it cost £1.95, it wasn't too sweet and very cocoa-ey. Yum. Staff were smiley and helpful. There was also free cucumber water or lemon water served from large glass water carriers. I was full. 10 out of 10
