Black Bear Brewing - Bangor

I really enjoyed the food, drinks, and the open mic entertainment at this place! We often return.

This is my favorite brewery in Bangor. Hands down. There’s always a great selection of beers. On this visit, they had at least ten fresh options available. The Pale Ale is excellent and perfectly suits my taste. The interior has a beautiful rustic vibe, and there are outdoor seats available during the summer months. The menu is small but decent—definitely try the Cuban sandwich; it’s a great addition. The only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars is the beer-to-go situation; they only offer growlers and no cans.

I’m really frustrated that I didn’t get my deposit back for my breeders. It’s a deposit, so it’s not fair to keep it! Also, it was way too hot inside; they really need to invest in some fans. On the bright side, the beer selection is great, and it’s a beautiful place if it weren't so warm.

A friend and I had lunch today. The beer was good as usual. The pulled pig offered for some dishes was less than cheap. The pig had no season, and it was dry plated. The tacos were served with a small side of Bbq sauce, the Black Bean salad was not served with any kind of sauce on the side. My concept of pulled pork is that the pig is beautifully spiced, and laid in a bbq sauce, and plated.

Cool little spot in a town of a few diff breweries, this was my 2nd fave. The IPA was solid and my wife liked her beer as well, cant recall which one. We ate as well and I got the pastrami sandwich which was excellent. It came with seasoned potatoes which could have used a little salt. My wife got the mac and cheese with bacon which was good not great. I felt like the food was right on the verge of being excellent, but did lack a bit of flavor. They were out of stickers which was a bummer but I would return if ever up in the area again.
