This place is situated in a compound of an old hindu temple but is well known for long queues that start early in the morning where even politicians and stars are not treated any differently! This place has a very humbling vibe and feels like its unchanged since 30+ years that it started! The thin crispy dosa is filled with a light potato masala and served with coconut chutney.<br/ Till the time you wait for your half dosa, you can order for 'ghee kali ' (pic 2) or 'Pulau ' which we were too full to try.<br/ <br/ Pro tip: Try to go after 11AM near closing time when the rush is minimal.
The huge crowd on Sunday morning awaiting to embrace the taste of Siddappa hotel. The moment you get place to sit, suggest you to 1st order idli with ghee. Idli will be served hot with chutney and saggu(mixed vegetables gravy). They also serve thuppa khali dosa(ghee plain dosa) Rice bath. <br/ <br/ Its best to eat rice bath with ghee. The taste of ghee with rice bath is amazing. At last, the highlight is masala dosa. This is always served half and stuffed with aloo masala. <br/ Half masala dosa is very crispy and delightful to eat. For masala dosa they serve only chutney and not saagu because, chef recommends as they have already stuffed aloo masala in it and again serving saagu to it will not make ideal combination.<br/ <br/ Half masala dosa and rice bath will be served only on Thursdays and Sundays. Ensure to be an early bird, if you are planning for Sunday morning breakfast. Great place for breakfast!!
One of the oldest breakfast joint in BENGALURU<br/ One can get that nostalgic feel by visiting this place.<br/ Though the place looks little bit shady it serves quality food.<br/ Must try dishes:<br/ Thuppa khaali dosa-4/5<br/ Half masala dosa- 5/5<br/ Menthya pulav (available on Tuesdays and Thursdays)<br/ .<br/ .<br/ .<br/ Be patient enough to stand in the queue to get in<br/ .<br/ .<br/ .<br/ They serve masala dosas only inside the eatery for that there'll be a separate queue.<br/ .<br/ .<br/ Hungrybirds rating- 4/5
The only place I would not mind standing in line for dosa. Their masala dosa is so crispy and so loaded with ghee I ate 4 dosas(i normally cannot eat more than 2). Their chutney is okay okay. It is very crowded on weekends and its a small place so theres a huge waiting line but its worth it. They also have lemon rice and idli but i only tried masala dosa.
Sidappa hotel is one of the legendary places in bangalore for the food they serve. Its based in a temple area and the culture of South india really shines out. Sundays have a long line of waiting and even longer if you wabt to try the Half Masaladosa. Yes they only serve half a dosa especially on weekends.<br/ <br/ They also serve ghee Khali Dosa, idli and rice bath which all runs out pretty soon. I would recommend gping on weekdays or early on weekends for a good experience
