Houyxai Kaew - Ban Houayxay

While we could see Chiang Khong Huay Xai Laos over the Mekong River. We could see a very large red and blue vertically striped awning right above the river. We said it was the Houayxai Kaew restaurant in Laos. We've decided we're going to lunch the next day. It was the lunch trip. A tuk tuk to the bridge, a bus over the Meakong, a $35 US dollar visa each and another tuk tuk tuk in Huay Xai. The restaurant was beautiful, open air with a great view of the river Meakong and Chiang Khong Thailand on the other side. About us in the restaurant was the huge red and blue striped awning that we had first seen from the other side in Thailand. We had a wonderful meal, the main course was a very big roasted fish with three sides and Lao beer. Service was very polite and attentive. I enjoyed the restaurant and the meal very much. I would like to go back from Chiang Khong if I didn't have to pay for four Tuk-Tuks trips two bus trips and a $35 dollar visa for each of us. All that said it was funny!

Restaurant Houyxai Kaew (Pharsaiyo) is the restaurant of Gateway Hotel. the food is good taste, fair price and gob of food. this is located in Gateway Hotel Building 2 (new) and near the river bank. You can eat and see the views of Mekong River. In the morning, if you stay at Gateway Hotel, you can here to eat breakfast 7:00AM 10:00AM.

This restaurant offers wonderful Asian cuisine. For dinner there was a wonderful time near Mekong River. A wonderful initiative and at the end a gourmet restaurant. Everything was excellent. I loved everything.

The food was okay. I had to order three times, but after the third time I got what I ordered. We were there on Saturday and there was great Thailand party. It was very funny because the Thais were very drunk. We really enjoyed this evening.

The food was good but not amazing. It's a bit pricey as well with all prices in Baht. Portions were huge so it might be best to share dishes.
