The vibe is nice. It's quiet. The service is fast. Both the workers and customers are friendly. The coffee is FIRE. Fire as in good. I just wish it was served a little hotter actually. I've only been twice, both times ordering drip coffee and it was room temperature. I like hot coffee and hot tea. I love the almond croissants but they're also toasted a little too much, again, tasty though! I'm so glad I finally tried Milk Honey. It's only 5 minutes from home and such a comfortable place to get your studying on :
When they're good they're good, but it has been so hit or miss during 2022 so far. Often there has been just one staff member, who is either lucky enough to catch their breath, or busy taking care of an entire cafe by themselves. Today, a Tuesday, I came in around 930, put in an order for a latte and a sandwich (they were out of a LOT options), and as I finished up another order came in, followed by three groups of 3-4 people each. The lone-worker went from humming along to immediately stressed, and worryingly had to let new folks coming in the wait was going to be 20-30 minutes. In a matter of minutes the vibe in the cafe went from easy going to stressed, awkward, and kind of uncomfortable. While I am not a fan of the self-order screens, I do understand wanting to streamline things, and sure COVID has its own implications. But it seems like the choices Milk Honey (Vagrant) has made, not only isolates the customer and staff, but is actively creating a silo that is ripe for uncertainty and stressful moments. I've always enjoyed my drinks, and their breakfast sandos are solid (well, when they aren't out of half the menu). My 3/5 is to mainly reflect the environment they've created that seems unfair to the staff, and awkward for the customer.
This is a cool cafe, with a good workspace if you needed to get some work done. The huge windows provide great lighting and there is outdoor seating. The smoothie options are good and there are also other warm cafe style drinks. Ordering via a screen is pretty convenient it provides good ingredient lists and pictures.
Delicious coffee, great atmosphere! I got the pour-over and loved it. The barista told me their coffees are light-medium roast, which means that there’s none of that burnt after taste. Oat milk available. Delightful little coffee shop!
Black-owned, veteran-owned safe space for all? Need I say more? This space has abundant desirable seating, friendly service, beautifully curated art and plants, and community postings and resources. They have perfected their small menu selection, of which I enjoyed a robust bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich and an iced latte. The espresso and milk were balanced and made for a much needed wake-me-up. The sandwich was hot, made with real ingredients and was filling. This cafe is just a few blocks from Penn Station Baltimore and is worth a stop if you find yourself taking the JHU shuttle or heading just about anywhere.
