Lovely meal in the wine cellar at The Black Olive. The food was outstanding. Definitely one of the best meals that I have eaten in ages. Very memorable food, looking forward to going there again soon. I really, really wanted to give this place a 5 star rating but unfortunately the service was not great. The waitstaff seemed to disappear on us, we definitely would have ordered another bottle of wine but the server did not return. She also did not return with a seltzer water that was requested twice. I get it that some people in a private room might like to be bothered with checking in, but I think that we were not checked in enough. Also, I hate to mention this but it was very awkward when we left because we were told that there was a mistake running the credit cards that two of them were missed, when in fact in turned out that one of the servers had pocketed the $180 cash since two of of paid cash. I am hoping this was an honest mistake but it was definitely something that should not have happened. Again, the food was outstanding and the wine cellar was a great atmosphere. Hoping to give it another try soon.
Don’t listen to the bad reviews! We eat in Baltimore all of the time, but this was one of our best meals. The food is fresh and cooked with Mediterranean love. We loved the tzatziki and octopus mezze as well as the sea scallop and Mediterranean bass entree. We were lucky to be seated on a quiet night, perfect for seafood lovers on a date night.
Went for New Year Eve with the prix fixe menu for the first time. It's a small little tavern in Fells Point. Had good reviews in the past so I was excited to go only to find out the restaurant is very old school and not accommodating to allergies at all. I have a severe allergy to alcohol. It's a you get what you get and you'll like it kind of an attitude. I had tried to call ahead and message them on Instagram to no avail. The server was a bit abrasive about the whole thing and the food that was safe to eat was pretty mediocre. He actually told me to not write a bad review because they couldn't accommodate me. The menu was $90 and, to me, it was not worth the value. I had scallops, the soft shell crab in phyllo and the chocolate mousse. Nothing to write to home about and frankly, not good enough for this restaurant to act that pretentious. It may be time for the owner to rethink how he treats his customers in a competitive restaurant landscape in Fells Point. When other competitors in the same pricepoint go out of out their way to accommodate--Foreman Wolf made me a completely custom meal for Thanksgiving at the Charleston. Atlas gave me the personal cell phone number of the VP of Ops to contact the kitchens personally to make sure I have a good experience. Seems like they're recently getting a lot of bad reviews and the owner seems fairly rude in the responses. It's also not wheelchair accessible for anyone wondering.
Food wasn't amazing. The Greek wine was amazing. Service was okay a Little slow, atmosphere was amazing, the staff were polite and knowledgeable, in all a great night,
