Banthai - Baltimore

My girlfriend and I had lunch at this restaurant on Valentine's Day. The food was excellent, but I should mention that their spicy dishes are quite intense. I ordered a meal rated 2 stars on the spiciness scale, and it ended up being extremely spicy for me (and I'm originally from India!). The restaurant was beautifully decorated, complete with heart-shaped pieces of carrot and cucumber in the soups and entrees. The staff was also very friendly.

The restaurant is usually quite tranquil (often nearly empty), as it seems many customers opt for takeout. I personally enjoy less crowded places, so this is a bonus for me. As a Thai person, I can say that the food here is decent. However, I suspect the chef might be Chinese, which could explain why some dishes don't quite capture the authentic flavors typical of Thai cuisine, particularly in terms of the herbs, though it's still fairly close. The dishes labeled as spicy really are spicy, which I appreciate. I would recommend trying the Larb and Yum Woon Sen for those looking to explore new options (everyone I know tends to stick to Pad Thai and green curry). The Thai iced tea is quite tasty as well. Overall, I would rate it 3.5 stars. While I prefer Stang of Siam for its more authentic experience and Thai ownership, Ban Thai is still a good option.

I absolutely love Ban Thai! I always order from here because they have incredibly fast delivery— they usually estimate about an hour, but they often arrive in 20 minutes or even less when I use Grubhub. It's perfect for when I'm really hungry! The delivery person is always very respectful and friendly too. I really enjoy the pad thai and the Philadelphia sushi rolls; they're both delicious and come in large portions, so I can get 2-3 meals out of each order! I don't understand why the reviews are so low; this place is fantastic!
