As always delicious, fresh, tasty, and every person on the table was blown away (11 of us). Great meal choices even on a tour, catered to all dietary needs, the lamb shoulder was sensational.. The wines brilliant, their champagne (started with a K) was outstanding that we order more afterwards. We are not white wine drinkers, but the red amazing the pinot is so easy to drink. The surroundings were perfect, sunny day, and we were able to sit outside, and look at the gardens, and vineyard.
Have visited barn and co twice recently with different family members and my toddler, both times for lunch on a sunny day. Sat outside both times so my son could run around the beautiful grounds. Really enjoyed both food and wine, have tried lots on the menu now and I loved the pizza and gnocchi, husband rated the lamb. Some things seem overpriced (croquettes) but others are really reasonable (salads) so it all works out. Only one staff member on when we visited last week and she seemed quite busy, waited a minute or two to take our order but was very friendly and professional. The grounds are honestly so pretty and it seems like a lovely place for wedding or big group birthday lunch etc. A really good addition to this side of peninsula when we used to drive to trofeo dromana for similar style eating/drinking.
23rd Aug. Sunday at 4.05pm we were coldly greeted by staff after entering Mrs Nicks Vineyard front door. The road signs were out, the open sign was on the door and a few cars were in the car park, someone was sitting outside drinking. All indications that Mrs Nicks was open. Two women were behind the desk and the older women gave us a look as if we had wondered into her own home uninvited. After staring at us briefly she asked what we wanted....We indicated a wine tasting. After looking at her watch and with gross disdain she said it was after 4pm.............. We left perpelxed by the lack of service, the hostility and the fact that there was no indication that it was not open. We have no desire to return to Mrs Nickes Vineyard. Looks like it would be a pretty hostile place for a wedding as well if that's an indication of the service.
Barn and Co. has recently opened at Mrs Nicks vineyard. It's a great addition to the Mornington Peninsula's Balnarring area. Barn and co. is a new venture for the previous owners of the well respected Salix restaurant. The Barn is warm and inviting with a beautiful open fire and a modern rural feel. Outdoors there is a fantastic alfresco dining area, perfect for families with kids, or drinks with friends, when the warmer weather arrives. The food is mediterranean inspired. Amazing olives, delicious bread, a tapas selection, ideal for sharing and really good pizza. It's relaxed enough to drop in for a quick bite and glass of wine, or to settle in for the afternoon and enjoy a selection of interesting small plates. There is beer on tap and a good selection of well priced wines. We will definitely be back.
I kept this review on the back burner however I don't remember why I never finished it.
