Really nice clean event. a large bajomarie, they help themselves, a wonderful series of cooked vegetables and salad. we had the Porterhouse steak, which was boiled pink to our lust and the seafood fish plate, very fresh seafood and generous portion. highly recommended. very safe.
We found the Bowling Club to be a great value for the money. The food is of good quality considering the price, and the buffet style of hot vegetables and cold salad bar is a fantastic concept. When you place your order, you are given a buzzer that lights up when your meal is ready, prompting you to head to the servery to pick up your meal and help yourself to the hot vegetables. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The only downside is that there is no dedicated seniors section on the menu, except on certain days for lunch. The pricing is slightly higher than your average pub meal for seniors, but the quality justifies it. We will definitely visit the Bowling Club again when we are in Ballarat/Sebastopol next time.
We had a party of four and one of our party ordered the Lambs Fry. This arrived with the liver actually not just burnt but burnt to a char on the bottom so it was a tough as leather and our friend could barely eat it. I can 't believe any one in the kitchen thought it was okay to charge for this or to serve it. When we told the waitress all we got was a muttered 'sorry. ' The other meals were pleasant but I think there is a price point for most of the meals of under $20 and if they go over they are getting a bit expensive. The salad and vegetable bar is probably the best salad and veggie bar going and the wine was excellent.
We had two meals here and the service is really good. The menu is varied and the serves are definitely value for money. There’s the Bain Marie-style service where you get your main and then you can top up with sides of veggies, salad etc. There’s also special nights throughout the week e.g “two-course Thursday” where you get a soup or desert with your main for a set price. We have two kids aged 9 and 12 and it was a great place for a family meal and conveniently located across from our motel. It’s value for money, no frills and a pleasant atmosphere.
