Brown Grain Thai - BALLARAT CENTRAL

Dinner with friends recently. Great service, good location (pity about the parking!!) and nice setting. Meal was fresh, lots of fresh salad and plate fillers, but overall the meal was a bit light on. Had a seafood dish that had very little seafood (3 or 4 prawns), wife dish was also light on with most of the plate filled with salad. Wine was overpriced. I would probably give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5. Will be looking for better value elsewhere in a city that has plenty of food options.

My barramundi was swimming in sweet chilli sauce you buy from a bottle. Not authentic at all. Our lamb was so dry that we returned it after one bite. Don't come here! Waste of money

Brown Grain for anyone who enjoys modern Thai. We enjoyed super-crisp spring rolls, tasty fried rice and superb pork belly with broccoli. For dessert, the Panan crepe and the banana fritters, both with coconut ice cream were yum. Brown Grain has a pleasant ambiance, friendly staff and good-sized tables.

Having read several positive reviews on Trip Advisor we booked a table for Saturday night. Ballarat was really busy this weekend and the restaurant was busy too. We arrived late due to car parking issues but that was no problem for the exceptionally friendly staff. We were given sufficient time to peruse the menu before being approached to place an order. We had the fish cakes to start with which were tasty with the sweet chilli sauce. For mains we had the massaman beef and spicy duck with a side serve of jasmine rice. The aromas played with your senses before the delicious combination of spices and curry hit your palate....yum. The service was fast and we were back out into the night in under an hour. If you are in Ballarat for a weekend, definitely give this great Thai a go.

Great food and great service. Perfect start to a night out From the time we walk through the door staff made us welcome. Service was good for the whole meal. Food was fantastic . Hot and presented well. Tasted fantastic
