They also had a good kids menu, which I posted up because I didn?t see any pictures of one yet. Wishing this restaurant wasn?t 3,000 miles away from home, but so glad we got to experience it and the breathtaking views with it.
Cook's is the genuine Down East experience. Everything surpassed our expectations, from the lobster and Haddock sandwich to the standout blueberry pie. The service was quick and efficient, and the prices were quite reasonable. We highly recommend it. Our only disappointment is that we couldn't try everything on the menu. Be sure to arrive early and bring your Visa card, as it's very popular, and as far as we know, they still don't accept American Express.
The haddock sandwich was disappointing—it was dry and thin compared to similar options in the area, and at twenty dollars, it just wasn’t worth it. Now, about the lobster mac and cheese—I usually order it wherever it’s on the menu (just like with the French onion soup), but this dish was incredibly dry, and the noodles were somewhat hard. I mentioned to the waitress that it was way too dry, and she brought out some extra cheese sauce, which I shared with the other person who also ordered the mac and cheese. I was really let down, especially having paid $40 for it. Each year, I go to Boston and have lobster mac and cheese at a restaurant by the water that costs $30, and it’s by far the best I’ve had. On a positive note, the atmosphere here is delightful. There was a band playing, and the staff provided excellent service!
We enjoy this place. It has a marvelous view of the famous Cribworks bridge between Bailey and Orrs Islands. The staff was easy to work with and responded to our requests as quickly as possible. Due to staffing shortages in this summer of 2022, there is a fairly long wait to be seated and the number of empty tables which can?t be served is substantial. The food was quite good and we enjoyed our meals and especially the view!
We stop at Cook's every time we visit Maine. The food and service are both excellent. The lobster tastes so fresh! The drive out to Cook's is amazing as well with gorgeous views of the ocean. We were so pleased during our most recent visit to learn that most of the menu is or can be prepared gluten free.
