Da Azenha - Baiao

It was our first day in Portugal and we were hungry. We happened on this authentic café on our travels and were not disappointed. Though few spoke English and our Portugese was rudimentary, we ended up with a lovely lunch and exquisite service. There is a beautiful church and cemetery across the street on the river. We plan to go back one day...

Staying at nearby hotel and wanting a less expensive dinner we found this place. Although it was empty in the mid evening we were made welcome by the owners and found we could converse in French. So we had a lovely inexpensive meal and a nice chat about her kids and grandkids. We've arranged to go back on Wednesday and she's going to cook us poussin. Bien recommendee.

Quality of food is good, but 18€ for a steak does not qualify as a cheap meal in the context of this region. The price rating is wrong on TripAdvisor.

We stayed nearby and we found this place by chance on Tripadvisor. The food is great (strongly recomend the soup and the steak). The hosts were just wonderful. What a great place!

It still excists, the home made food in a nice cosy environment, made and served by friendly people. Nothing fancy but just good and delicious. We will be back today. Not easy to find, but opposit the little church
