This was a technical seminar, so no time to hover, the food was great, the fact that there is a buffet of starters and desserts made the lunch quick and good, the customers were really happy with the quality of food, the fact that they could taste many different things encourage them to try, and the service was great as always. Gerard told us the story of the place, the forniture/windows he has left untouched for decades... The customers took a picture of themselves in such a picturesque restaurant, with a big wine bottle that Gerard has on the bar counter. That have kept a great souvenir of the visit.
We ate here in June 2011 while cycle touring in the Pyrenees from Bagneres de Bigorre. It was a welcome change from the many pizzarias. The menu was fifteen euro fifty for three courses. The first and dessert can be help-yourself from a hot and cold buffet, the main course is a selection of plat du jour or menu items. So plenty of choice and you can fill up to your heart's content. Patron speaks english, beer and wine is reasonable. Once we found this place we did not go elsewhere.
I love coming here for lunch, it's such good value. Proper French bistrot food, unpretentious and copious, good range of local wines by the pichet. Hot cold buffet a volunte, generous dessert buffet plus satisfying choice of hearty main dishes (you can quite easily have ample to eat without a main course). It's very popular with locals, and do try and get there before 12.15 to be sure of the full choice of what's available. Dinner ? it becomes more formal and more expensive, but no loss of quality.
Il faut passer par la courte échelle : buffets à volonté , entrées , plats desserts , excellente cuisine , nous y revenons régulierement !!!!
