La Taverna Hotel Helen - Bacău

First of all the food taste ok at the beginning but after a while you start to taste the real sauces and what is left on the buds is only tons of salt, pepper and tomato sauce. Or old sour cream. Too much saul in the food is a no go and here is more than enough for a company of soldiers. The service is so and so. Sometimes ok, other times very bad. The prices too high for the food taste and service. I would not recommend this restaurant. If is possible avoid it.

Beautiful location, outside the city, not far. But a quiet place. Clean and large rooms. Good Wifi. Good food at the hotel restaurant, 20m from the hotel.

It is actually a hotel on Magura Hill that has a wonderful and soothing view Who also has a restaurant with a covered terrace. The restaurant is located in the basement. It is suitable for a small trip, excursions with friends or a relaxing day at the spa. Pretty high prices, but food and service are good.

The place is very nice, food was okay. Buuut, the prices are much higher than average and in the menu you can see the already large prices only for 100 grams of product. Be aware of this! If you go for a fish, you don't know the final price! It was a completely surprise to expect something and to see at least 3 times more on the check! They also had a live band with Romanesque traditional music that ruined for me at least the entire atmosphere of nature through the leaves rubles and birds song.

I went here as part of a family group as this place is supposedly one of the best restaurants in Bacau. Its not. First off its located in the snobbish Hotel Helen, where people keep mentioning they have 4 stars every time you ask a question they haven't got an answer to. It makes me wonder how that was certified. The restaurant itself is located very nice outside the hotel side, and is arguably the best feature of this place. The staff ignored my group of 6 people for 45 mins despite it being a casual week day. Nobody gave a damn. Like they were running on the 4* automation button expecting the people from the hotel to drop by like street dogs. Due to nature of my table was unable to document my food via pics. The food preparation and the waiter knowledge is like you would find in any restaurant here except its got a premium pricetag. Mantra is : lets use alot of sauce, and when we don't have sauce lets use salt. If you are westerner you will laugh, if you are some local dude with a business lunch from overseas you are gonna love it. Bottom line is: ignorant and downright unpleasant staff, way overpriced food for Romania and a general feeling that you arent really worth the trouble. Avoid. Same food double the price.
