John Christ Winery - Avon Lake

The reviews said it was a nice spot so i thought id check it out cause i was in the neighborhood. Maybe I came at the wrong time lol but I Came for lunch on Saturday I was told they don't serve any foods any more due to covid. Place was a ghost town so I didn't sample anything but I should have because I got a bottle of pink catawba to go and it's not too sweet. Its kinda on the bitter side to me. It's truthfully the driest catawba I ever had BUT it packs a punch, its 12 lol. Once you get over the bitterness you good , but I wouldn't buy this flavor again or go there again.

Pinot and Niagra were ok otherwise a typical Ohio wine tasting. Nothing was bad, but guests from Arizona didn't feel the need to take any home. Server was busy but good. We brought home one bottle of Special blend, which we have been buying for years and giving as Christmas presents.

The website states that they ship within Ohio, but when I called to order a case, I found out that they don't. I'm really disappointed.

Nice cozy atmosphere. San Gria was good. Also the wine based mixed drinks are very good.

A friend and I met here because the Peach wine and pineapple honey iced wine sounded so good. Our bartender, Tara, was great but we were a little disappointed that no food except for bagged chips was available. Some cheese, crackers and fruit boards would be easy to prepare and wouldn't require any cooking.The ? wine was excellent, took a bottle home! I would go again if John Chris decided to serve a minimalist menu.
