Kraken Coffee Company - Avila Beach

We visit this coffee shop every time we go to Avila Beach because the coffee is fantastic. However, the unfriendly demeanor and lack of warmth from most of the staff are making us reconsider our visits. Coffee shops should be a welcoming social experience, and receiving your drink with a smile makes a big difference. Unfortunately, that hasn't been our experience here, which is truly disappointing.

I ordered a mocha, it could’ve used a little more syrup and a little more sweetness but aside from that, it was good. The barista was very nice, and made a lovely little heart design on the top for me. Very polite very friendly. Definitely worth a stop here.

This has been my favorite coffee shop for the past few years. I will not go back. This morning it was filthy. The trash cans stank. The cream for coffee curdled. The inside of the ice cream freezer was dirty and encrusted with too much ice. Windows and floors filthy. This was at 9:00 AM. No more for me, and I’m a local. Horrible!

Paid $5 for a plain coffee, and $7 for a latte. They don’t let customers use their bathroom. I thought all coffee shops had bathrooms.

Nice coffee shop in Avila Beach. They make an effort to make your drink well. Pastries are ok. Indoor seating was almost completely taken up by people working on laptops. Kind of annoying when you just want to drink your coffee and pastry while sitting across from the ocean. Not really Kraken's fault, but if you're just going to be on a screen go sit at the table without a view!
