As a Mexican my standards for restaurant Mexican food are pretty low already, especially here in Texas. My food a couple weeks ago was terrible. I got the appetizer combo and it was all dry and bland. It was also very expensive. Our server was super nice and helpful though! One star because I’ll never eat there again and I’m very surprised at the high ratings here on Google. I suspect they’re all from the people of pale persuasion. ?
The food is AMAZING. Nothing on the food menu will disappoint! I've had at least 6 different kinds of drinks here on multiple occasions and they all were horrible. Great food, but their drinks need work. I ordered a top shelf marg and could barely drink it because it was so bad. GET A BETTER BARTENDER TEAM Service is great!
Restaurant was great. Fast service. Barry was our original server but he was incredibly rude. Not like he was having a bad day rude, but intentionally letting us know that he was bothered by us. We asked for another server and got placed with Brooklyn. She was great! Sweet and patient. Barry made sure to let us know when he found out we asked for another server. Beyond rude and honestly sort of scary. I am a server myself so I understand having bad days, being tired, etc. but this was beyond that. We reached out to manager, and this had nothing to do with the establishment, just this particular server.
What a great neighborhood joint, not my hood but I 'm certain we will be back. Right off the bat the chips and salsa were a great surprise. The chips are not your HEB thin chips but solid enough to handle queso and their surprisingly spicy salsa. My eyes spied barbacoa enchiladas on the menu and that was that. This is the real deal, unlike the dried-out non-spiced barbacoa you sometimes get at other Tex-Mex joints. Be aware you can order 2 or 3 enchiladas unless you are a big eater or want leftovers two should suffice. The accompanying beans and rice were also a hit. The rice has some spice to it. My dining companions ordered beef tacos and combo plates and we all ate our full and took home a hearty snack for later. Service was excellent from start to finish. We asked for a table to watch the UT hoop game and the host moved us twice so we had primo seats by their big screen TVs. Our server was awesome and we never lacked water or additional chips. There is a large patio that is dog-friendly, a bar area, and a few additional seating sections. There are TVs everywhere if you wish to catch a game and parking in their large lot is a breeze. This is a true neighborhood restaurant that we will be revisiting soon!
