Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar - Austin

This restaurant offers a unique theater experience that many people rave about. While I can see why it’s popular, it doesn’t rank among my top choices. On the plus side, you can order food, which adds to the overall experience, and the staff are incredibly friendly and well-organized. The screen was decent, but I deducted two stars mainly due to the seating situation. The seats were much smaller than those in other theaters, and I felt like I was almost sitting on top of the person next to me (and I’m petite!). Additionally, the seats lacked depth. If seat comfort isn’t a priority for you and you’re just looking to enjoy good food and beer, this could be a fantastic spot.

I really enjoy Alamo Drafthouse. During the long, hot summer in Austin, TX, I decided to purchase a season pass along with a guest pass. It’s a fantastic way to watch both new and classic films at my local theater. The Alamo on South Lamar is well-kept, and the staff is wonderful. The prices for food and drinks are about what you’d expect in Austin in 2022. The food is decent but not exceptional — just good. I’ve been let down by the popcorn a few times, so I think I’ll skip it from now on and just stick with a cocktail or a beer, saving my food budget for something else in the area.

The perfect spot to catch a movie while sipping on a cold beer! This cinema has a fantastic, unique ambiance with a charming retro style. It's so refreshing to find a place that stands out from the typical, dull options. The theater features incredibly comfortable leather seats with a long table in front of each row, allowing the staff to conveniently serve your food and drinks right in front of you. I'm impressed by the excellent selection of beer and food available for moviegoers! Thank you—I'm certain this is going to be my new favorite theater!

Actually, this theatre wanted to enjoy how people hype it so much. You have a wide selection of local design beer so that?s great, and the place looks fantastic. Nevertheless, our experience was not great at all. First, the seats are unpleasant. We ordered popcorn and coke (simple) and the waiter forgot our popcorn until halfway the movie when I finally came by and had to remember it. The popcorn was super buttery and didn't even give us napkins. You must have a better system to call the waiters like a button or something. To wait until they come by whenever they do, it is not how you run this type of service. Didn't I even mean? Popcorn, it cost me $8.

Been visiting this location since I moved to Austin in 2011. It's not big for fancy but the staff, food, movies, and overall presentation and experience have always been top notch. I've met Elijah Wood and Ethan Hawke there and one time I forgot my credit card because I sat front row for Tree of Life and got motion sickness and had to leave. They kindly kept my card in the office and returned it to me when I came back later. Good people, solid location.
