I entered with a few friends, browsed around, tried out a perfume tester, and was on my way out when the associate stopped me. She accused me of taking an item and putting it in my pocket, asking if I was going to pay for it. I was taken aback, as I hadn't even touched most of the items in the store. I told her that I hadn’t taken anything. She became flustered and asked again, so I reiterated that she was mistaken. Despite my repeated denials, she insisted I empty my pockets, which confirmed my previous statements—there was nothing from the store. Her apology was minimal, and she quickly walked away. I hope others consider the treatment I've received, the apparent lack of training, and the dismissive acknowledgment of my experience before deciding to support this store.
If you plan to buy a gift for someone, make sure to remind them that returns must be made within two weeks, or else you might find yourself in a frustrating situation. I purchased Christmas gifts for my wife, and when she tried to return or exchange them three weeks later, the staff showed little interest in helping her. Despite the fact that none of the items had been worn and many were still available in the store, the staff's only suggestion was to sell them on Facebook. I reached out multiple times through email, seeking an explanation or looking to speak with a manager, but received no response. We certainly won't be returning to this store and wouldn't recommend it to others. A little empathy from the staff could have gone a long way in diffusing the situation and possibly preventing this review. I just want to give a heads up to anyone considering shopping here: pay close attention to the return policy, or you may end up out of luck.
During a recent weekend with friends, two of my lifelong companions and I decided to check out Stanley Marketplace while waiting for their flights. We visited True and were deeply disappointed and disheartened by the way one of our friends was treated. Although none of us received a greeting from the staff at True while browsing the store, my friend, the only dark-skinned black person in our group, was wrongly accused of stealing. After we left the store, a white employee followed us and claimed they had seen my friend steal, demanding that she empty her pockets. My friend had a lip scrub she had purchased from another store, which the employee attempted to grab from her hand. Once the employee realized we hadn't stolen anything, they offered a feeble apology, citing their mistaken belief that my friend had stolen something. This clearly reflects racial discrimination, and I hope True takes the necessary steps to educate their employees about racial profiling and bias, particularly in customer interactions. We had plenty of time to explore the Marketplace, and unfortunately, True lost out on our business both in that moment and moving forward.
I found this restaurant while looking for a dinner spot, and I'm glad I did! The blend of shops and eateries was enjoyable, although a few of them were closed. Nonetheless, I was able to indulge in some delicious ice cream from Sweet Cow and veggie rolls from Misaki Sushi!
I absolutely enjoy discovering beautiful and unique items that you won't find anywhere else. This place is my favorite spot for the best gifts, and I always end up treating myself to something special as well!
