My wife and I met with business partners and our company president for lunch. great food and very attentive service. really enjoyed the atmosphere and the most important eating was great. was not incredibly busy and not sure what the red wine was that I got lunch with my, but it was great and eating was great. would be coming back to a heartbeat.
Revisited this place with a long-term friend. we both have their mushes and pommes accompanied by a glass fisbone white . amazing. will come back soon.
We were very excited about the return flight. that was great again. the service was ho-hum best and the menu had a note that I left a $20 tip for the kitchen in addition to the service gratuity. when I left feedback...with a note in the restaurant, suggesting that they might add a few dollar to the main course and pay their personal well, I got a call within the hour of the manager asking why I had left him a negative review and so moved me that the people often buy a round for the kitchen. I have explained that sometimes I do, but I do not welcome being asked. he was very much not happy with it and I'm not going back.
This used to be our go to restaurant for special occasions, or just when we wanted a nice evening out. Sadly, covid seems to have struck again. The first indication that things were amiss was when our Thursday evening reservation was abruptly cancelled, with no...option provided. We did manage to call them and re book for Friday. (The person I spoke to made it seem that they were doing me a huge favour we can squeeze you in at 5:45 but believe it or not the restaurant was half empty the whole time we were there. The couple we were with arrived before us, and they were led to a 4 person table where the maitre d began removing one of the place settings stating the reservation was for 3. They assured him it was for 4 and he left, but shortly thereafter the waitress began removing the 4th place setting. Later in the evening I showed him the reservation confirmation on my phone and it clearly said Table for 4 . His response was well you 're here aren 't you. Service was long, we 'd almost finished 2 bottles of wine before dinner arrived. I ordered the steak, shown on the online menu as Steak 31 Grilled 8oz Flat Iron Charred Tomato Poblano Chimichurri Grilled Green Onion Fries. What I got was cold steak, fries and some mayo. all for the delightful price of $31.00. We were advised that the menu had changed that very day. One chicken dish that would not have fed a 5 year old. Essentially a piece of chicken with some undefined veggies. So sad... This used to be something special, with the proteins paired with delicious sides that complimented each other. Place that with the arrogant demeaning attitue of the Maitra d, who basically made it our fault that service was slow because we didn 't order an appetizer, but went directly to the main courses, but... there were no appeitzers that appealed since they had removed the squash blossoms (a particular treat the hearts of romain, which used to be our go to salad and had little other choices. And then he had the audacity to come to our table and tell us that he had checked the restaurant 's history and could not find that we had ever been there before. The people we were with came up from Willowdale to meet us there. They have been there at least 4 times with us having made the reservations. We have been there ourselves at least 10 times, the last being just before the lock down last fall. Sadly well not be returning. I will miss having Fishbone on our go to special night list.
