Chatterbox Drive-in - Augusta

They're not in business anymore. They were one of my favorite places to ever enjoy since my daughter was small. Best Mac and Cheese Biss ever.

What a discovery in bucolic Northwestern New Jersey! All about the chatterbox is an absolute joy! I love this place. The staff is wonderfully polite: friendly, really knowledgeable and attentive, without clogging. The atmosphere was amazing that the visit was of itself, given the 50s and 60s motif and music. Not only a great place to 'down,' the chatterbox is a virtual museum of doo wop era memorial: a family owned fifty and sixty style drive in restaurant that will bring you back to the good ol' days (even if you're part of them! In the restaurant there is a large circular dining room with many tables for parties large and small. In the center of the seating area there is a stage that usually houses a classic car, hot rod, motorcycles or anything else of interest. For our visit it was a nice mint condition 60 something cutlass (I really wanted to crawl inside and behind the wheel! The music that accompanied our repast was all wonderful for this time, and played on the right volume (loud enough to appreciate, not so loud to impair digestion efficiency and cognitive integrity, a problem with all too many restaurants! The food was amazingly good: fresh and well prepared with more than generous portions. I had a classic burger with Portobello mushrooms and Swiss cheese and my companion had a flank steak wrap that were both excellent as the cheese and potato Pierogis and the French fried cucumbers (it is a kentucky thing). When we were gone, there was a street rally through a local motorcycle club with a large number of vintage bikes on the display and friendly owners worried to play their mechanical virtues. We both had a wonderful time in the chatterbox and didn't want to go!

I love this place. The decor is fun, the staff is very friendly, and the food is wonderful. The kids love to go here and the whole family has a great time every time we go.

FUN old family friendly family friendly environment w/classic car in building, 50's diner style decoration, a train around the circle, and old movie poster records. friendly owner who is proud of his business. Friendly polite young server, menu has variety the food is consistently affordable price.

Great place! Good food and great atmosphere! They used to do more with the car side service like serving on roller skates, but inside seating is just as fun! Fun before heading across the street for a baseball game! Car shows are there occasionally I believe!
