AUGUST - Augsburg

We had an amazing evening here. Truly deserves both Michelin stars. Price wise more than fair even though it is still expensive. The chef enjoys being around the guests something you don´t find often. Food is made with local, seasonal ingredients. You can´t choose only...fixed menu. This is by far the best restaurant in Augsburg. Staff was attentive but the star is obviously the chef and the food. Only one downside. Parking is a nightmare. If you are in Augsburg you should come here

Everyone should try this once in their life, truly exceptional experience. Service was great but the food was even better.

This restaurant , which has 2 Michelin stars but, otherwise, it appears to have had very little international recognition. I can fully endorse the comments of other reviewers. We visited and ate what ranks as one of our top meals, ever, in April 2014. I...have delayed writing this review for purely selfish reasons, which is of course wrong! Our no choice set menu (159 Euros) began with 2 amuse bouche described as: Violet artichoke, ice cream, caviar of the field and coppa. Langoustine- sea salt marinated; cucumber garden; jus of langoustine. Six Appetizers (snacks): Chicken skin crunch; sepia; rucola; ashes Cucumber 'marshmallow '; smoked eel Sandwich of algae paper; beef tatar; lemon Easter egg; truffle; pea and ham cream Salty toffee of Jerusalem artichoke;duck liver and nut Waffle with horse radish and ceps and red beet Two fish courses followed: Red mullet; black muscle and langoustine; duxelles japonais; eucalyptus and algae Sole from Brittany; smoked black olives;nut butter foam; strawberry and verbena Two meat courses: Pata Negra pork; black garlic red beet curry Lamb from Auvergne;cabbage; onions cheese pastilla;quatre epices Desserts and petit fours! Unbelievably, after over 4 hours+, we got up feeling neither full or fatigued. Miraculous. On this showing, the chef, Christian Grunwald clearly deserves greater recognition but I suspect he enjoys being 'under the radar '.

We made a reservation for a special occasion while we stopped at Augsburg Germany. The doors open at 7 PM sharp and the staff were nice and the service was impeccable, this is Premium restaurant. They had a fixed menu which was amazing and our...taste buds were taken to unchartered territories. Prepare for a 4 hour journey..

This was our second visit to August, this time celebrate the 40 birthday of a friend. Again it was an amazing experience with a sparkling display of innovative dishes that was presented to us over around 3,5 hours. There does not appear to be any...choice but upon reservation we were asked whether there is anything that we do not eat. The meal is not only a feast for the taste buds but also the visual arrangement of each dish is very beautiful indeed. We were eating on the roof terrace where we turned out to be the only guests of the evening another table has cancelled a short notice) and receiv the full attention of the master himself and his staff. The chef sometimes stayed to observe our response to the food. A slight downside was that we could hear some music from a sports club nearby probably because they had thrown open all their windows. This subsided after a while. Apart from that the meal was a revelation and if you want to try trly innovative food you must come here. The meal was well worth every penny that we spent around 520 Euro for three including three menus, cava as aperitif, and two half bottles of wine, coffe). We will definitively return.
